DWDM

DWDM XENPAK transceivers are widely used by companies which lease optical fibers, alternatively they also can be used to upgrade existing networks (by multiplying capacity of already installed optical cables without need for adding new ones). Thanks to optical multiplexing technology it is possible to send many separate data streams (channels) over same strain of fiber. Optical DWDM multiplexers and demultiplexers are needed at the ends of each fiber to extract/add particular channels and guide them to/from the appropriate connectors. Usage of such DWDM tranceivers can bring huge savings on the long-term basis. DWDM technology brings up to 72 channels.
